Back-Saving from ArchiCAD 17 to ArchiCAD 16

Building Materials

When saving from ArchiCAD 17 back to ArchiCAD 16, Building Materials will be converted back to Cut Fills along with their Physical (Thermal) Properties. Other settings and changes to consider include:

•Surfaces on Basic and Composite Elements will be lost from the Building Material, and instead use the Element based settings (same result as when using ‘legacy intersection method’ in AC17)

•Surfaces on Profiles will lose the Extrusion override

•Junction Order will be used as Element Priority where possibly

•Intersection Priority will convert the 999 positions into 16 (by an approximately equal division)

•Junctions will revert to ArchiCAD 16 intersection method (same result as when using ‘legacy intersection method’ in AC17)

•Slab reference planes will revert to their tops, but the intersection geometry will remain intact.

•Wall reference line will remain in place, but will use an offset from the “outside face” (previously called “reference line side”)

Associative Dimensioning of Internal Core Structures in Section

Core component-based associative dimensions in section view (new in ArchiCAD 17) will revert to static dimensions when the project is back-saved to ArchiCAD 16.

Core-Based Reference Plane for Slab

All Slab reference planes will revert to Slab Top; physical model will not change.

Wall Reference Lines

Walls from ArchiCAD 17 projects that are back-saved to version 16 will have their reference lines redefined as follow (physical model will not change)

AC17 Flip off Outside Face, Inside Face, Core Outside, Core Inside, Core center = AC16 Right with appropriate offset

AC17 Flip on Outside Face, Inside Face, Core Outside, Core Inside, Core center = AC16 Left with appropriate offset

AC17 Flip off Center = AC16 Center

AC17 Flip on Center = AC16 Center + Mirror in place

Toplinked elements (Walls, Columns, Zones) will be redefined as “Not Linked”, fixed height elements in ArchiCAD 16. Their height value will correspond to their current height in ArchiCAD 17.

Curved Beam

Curved Beams (new in ArchiCAD 17) will be deleted from the project when saved to ArchiCAD 16.

Door/Window Reveal

All Doors and Windows in projects back-saved to ArchiCAD 17 will have their reveals anchored to the wall face. The Door/Window geometry position will not change.
