Wall Opening

The following is a description of the Wall Opening tab page of the Custom Settings Panel of Door or Window Settings, from the INT Archicad Library.

Reveal Type and Depth

From the pop-up list, choose a Reveal Type to use for this opening, or choose one of the No Reveal options. Enter a value for the Reveal Depth.

You can also choose a Reveal Type and set Reveal Depth on the Reveal tab page.

Reveal Depth can also be set on the Preview and Positioning Panel.

Wall Closure

This control is applicable if you have placed the opening in a composite wall.

Choose a predefined or custom Closure from the pop-up list. Available closure types vary depending on the type of reveal used for the opening.

Closure options can be defined in the Wall Closure tab page.

See Wall Closure.

Masonry Arch

Check this to include a Masonry Arch in the opening, and choose the desired type from the drop-down list.

To set additional Masonry Arch parameters, click the icon at right to jump to the Masonry Arch tab page.

Opening Oversizes

Enter values if you want to increase the wall hole cut by the opening, on its left, right, upper and/or lower sides.

Note: Entering an Oversize does not (unlike the Tolerance value) affect the Nominal Size of the window.

Wall Opening Surface

The surfaces of the host Wall can be applied to the opening in two ways.

If you choose the Same as Wall Edge option, Archicad will apply the surface of the wall’s edge to the opening’s edges.

If you choose the Same as Wall Side option, the external and internal wall surfaces will be applied to the opening’s edges, with the reveal depth as the division line between them.

If you are programming a Door/Window in GDL for a curved wall, see also Hole Surface’s Split is Curved.
