Project files (.pln, .pla, .bpn)
Archicadcan open Archicad project files from version 17 and up, and MEP Designer project files.
You cannot open Archicad project files from earlier versions (pre-17) directly; you have to convert them first.
To convert, open and save the project in version 17-28. Then you can open the project.

Solo Projects (.pln)
Solo (.pln) is the main native project type. The .pln file includes all model data and the views generated for the project, as well as the default settings, attributes and library references.
Archive (.pla)
Archive files are similar to Solo Projects, but these include all the library parts, background images and linked textures used in the Project, not just references to them.

Opening a Backup Project file (.bpn) allows you to recover the last saved version of a damaged project file, provided that the Make Backup Copy checkbox is active in Options > Work Environment > Data Safety & Integrity.
To open a backup file, do one of the following:
–Browse and double-click its name in the file system
–From the Open dialog or other system dialogs: use the dialog’s “All file types” filter to include BPN files in the available list
ArchicadProject Template (.tpl)

These files are vectorial drawings saved from the 3D Window (using the Vectorial 3D Engine). These drawings contain no model information and can be touched up in the Floor Plan with 2D tools.
Important note: In the 3D Window, this option is only available with the Vectorial 3D Engine - not available in Hardware acceleration mode.

PlotMaker Drawing (.pmk)
