Layer status

For each layer, you can define the following statuses:

lock/unlock

show/hide

3D view mode

layer intersection group

Throughout the Archicad interface, icons indicate each layer’s  status.

Edit these statuses in Layer Settings: select one or more layers or folders, and click the icons to change their status.

Note: The Archicad Layer cannot be deleted, hidden, or locked. This layer collects all those elements that may have lost their layer definitions.

Lock/unlock

Lock a layer to prevent its contents from accidental modification. Elements on a locked layer cannot be edited or deleted and no new elements can be placed on it.

The “mixed” status is shown on folders that contain items of varied status.

Show/hide

The “mixed” status is shown on folders that contain items of varied status.

Show all layers

Do one of the following:

Use Document > Layers > Show All Layers command or the same command from the Arrange Elements toolbar;

In list view: select all the layers with Ctrl+A  and toggle the eye icon

In folder view: select the topmost “Layers” folder, multiselect everything in the list, then toggle the eye icon.

Choose Shaded vs. wireframe to display this layer’s elements in 3D views.

For example, you can place operator elements of Solid Operations on wireframe layers, and their target elements on solid layers.

Note: This setting is independent of the current 3D Style in the View > 3D View Options menu.

Another way to change layer status: use the shortcuts in the Quick Layers palette.

See Quick Layers.
