Create Openings from Selection
Use this command to transform selected Archicad construction element(s) into Openings.
A selected Archicad element will turn into an Opening if it collides with an eligible element (Wall, Slab, Mesh, Beam).
For example: Morphs, MEP elements, and Stair elements (with headroom On) are typically transformed into Openings.
Note: If the two intersecting elements do not collide (i.e. because of automatic intersection or Solid Element Operation), no Opening is created.
For example, an imported file may contain a multi-story Morph representing mechanical voids.
1.Select the element (here, the Morph).
2.Use the Create Openings from Selection command
–from the context menu
–from Design > Connect menu
3.Set options in the appearing palette, then click Create Openings at the bottom of the palette.
Shape
•Automatic: Openings will match the original element geometry as closely as possible
•Rectangular or Circular
Offset
Optionally, add an offset to the Opening.
Keep Original Elements
Uncheck to delete the original elements.
Merge Nearby Openings
Check this to merge Openings that are closer than the tolerance distance defined here.
•Merge lengthwise: This can be useful in parallel Walls that are close together, or Slabs on top of one another.
•Merge sideways: For example, with MEP pipework, in which parallel pipes are very close to each other.
If you do not check this box, then a separate Opening is created in each host element.
