Each version of ARCHICAD is shipped with a standard object library containing hundreds of preconfigured, editable objects (also known as GDL objects or Library parts).
When creating a new project, ARCHICAD will load the library contained in the template used for the new project. Each subsequent version of ARCHICAD comes with an updated ARCHICAD Library. There are different Libraries corresponding to different national standards.
See Migration Guide for ARCHICAD 20 for recommendations on migration issues.
You can also add additional libraries to the project as needed.
View and manage your project’s libraries (Embedded Library, Linked Libraries, BIMcloud/BIM Server Libraries) in the Library Manager (File > Libraries and Objects > Library Manager).
Restrictions:
•The Embedded Library cannot contain any .lcf file (Library Container File)
•An archive (.pla) folder used as a Linked Library will not be mounted unless the folder functions as a library root (i.e. at the top of the library hierarchy). Any .pla files at a deeper level of the hierarchy will not be mounted.
•Filenames that consist only of a file extension (such as “.gsm” or “.DS_STORE) are not visible in Library Manager
