Columns

Columns in ARCHICAD are made up of two components: the load-bearing core and the optional veneer used to simulate fire proofing or any kind of sheathing around the core. The core and veneer each has its own Building Material (and hence, separate intersection priorities and other attributes).

The Column’s section can be rectangular or circular, or can use a Complex Profile.

The column’s axis can be either vertical or slanted.

The bottom of every Column (like other elements) is linked to its Home Story; you can also top-link the Column to any story above it, relative to its Home Story.

See Column Tool Settings, Home Story and Define Top Link for Wall, Column or Zone.
