Use this dialog to define general and Routing preferences when working with MEP Modeler.

Open the dialog at Options > Project Preferences > MEP Preferences (or use the MEP Preferences shortcut from the MEP Engineering Toolbar).

Rise/drop unit

Applies to Routing segments placed at an angle: the angle unit (such as degree or mm/meter) of the slope.

Segment Length Limits (Duct, Pipe, Cable Carrier)

During Routing, drag and click any distance to place a series of straight MEP elements. The placed elements will automatically be divided into segments of the length defined here.

Standard Bend Angles

While using MEP Routing in the Floor Plan window: Guide Lines will appear to assist you (provided that Guide Line display is turned on). These Guide Lines reflect the Standard Bend Angles defined here.

Click Add to add more Standard Bend Angles to the list, if needed.

Predefined Sizes

This is the project’s list of predefined cross-sections for each MEP tool type. The list defined here is available when you set up the cross-section geometry for a Routing operation in the Routing Palette.

See Define Settings in Routing Palette.

Click any MEP type to edit the list of predefined size, radius, and descriptions

As needed, use the Import/Export buttons to use these data in other projects

Element Type of MEP-Compatible Objects

By default, MEP-compatible objects from the ARCHICAD Library are placed with the Object Tool and their element type is therefore “Object.”

You may prefer to switch the element type of such objects to Equipment. This can make it easier to browse for MEP-compatible objects while you are working with MEP systems. Use the following two controls:

MepObjects.png

Convert Selected Objects to Equipment (Affects Existing Objects)

Reclassify selected MEP-compatible Objects, which were placed with the Object tool, as Equipment (rather than Object).

Convert Newly Placed Objects to Equipment

If checked: the element type of MEP-compatible objects placed with the Object tool will (from now on) be classified as Equipment rather than Objects. Does not affect already placed Objects.
