New Global Library in Archicad 28

Archicad 28 introduces a new Global Library technology. The Archicad 28 project template thus includes a large set of library packages (libpacks) instead of a single, version-specific library.

The Global Library development is a fundamental technology change: there is a migration cut between the Monolith Library (pre-Archicad 28 versions) and the Global Library (Archicad 28 and later). Placed objects, tool defaults, favorites, and MVO settings from the Global Library are not compatible with earlier versions.

Migrate Libraries for older-version projects

We recommend you that you start using the Global Library only after completing your ongoing projects.

To migrate your older version projects and keep working as usual: see Migrating Libraries to Archicad 28.

Global Library for new projects

Use the Global Library when starting a new project.

Once you make the transition to the new Global Library, objects placed from the old Monolith Library will be editable, but new objects can be placed only from the new Global Library.

The legacy Monolith Library and the new Global Library cannot work together in the same project.

You can also start a new project in Archicad 28 using an older template and older-version Archicad library.

In the future, library updates will be delivered to the Global Library.
