New Global Library (Archicad 28 and later)
As of version 28, Archicad uses the Global Library technology. The Archicad 29 project template thus includes a large set of library packages (libpacks) instead of a single, version-specific library.
The Global Library development is a fundamental technology change: there is a migration cut between the Monolith Library (pre-Archicad 28 versions) and the Global Library (Archicad 28 and later). Placed objects, tool defaults, favorites, and MVO settings from the Global Library are not compatible with earlier versions.
Migrate Libraries for older-version projects
We recommend you that you start using the Global Library only after completing your ongoing projects.
To migrate your older version projects and keep working as usual: see Migrating Libraries to Archicad 29.
Global Library for new projects
Use the Global Library when starting a new project.
Once you make the transition to the new Global Library, objects placed from the old Monolith Library will be editable, but new objects can be placed only from the new Global Library.
Library updates are delivered to the Global Library only.
See Global Library.
