Tips for getting the best results

Notice: Available with Archicad Collaborate or Archicad Max.

The built-in MCP is designed to select items based on your natural-language request in AI Assistant. If your request doesn't seem to work, please try the following tips:

Be precise and specific

Be specific when possible. Mention the scope, such as whole model, selected elements, walls only, or a target value like a surface, building material, or other properties.

Set the Home Story from Ground Floor to First Floor for all selected elements.
Unify the height of my selected windows, using the most common one.

Use exact Archicad tool names (not abbreviations)

Refer to tools by their official names.

Use “Curtain Wall” instead of “CW” or “glass panel”.

Use Archicad property and attribute names as stored in the file

You can use Archicad in English and write your prompts in another language. For the best results, use the Archicad language when you mention properties and attributes. For example, if your Archicad properties are in German, you’ll get more accurate results if you refer to them by their German names in your prompt.

Use quotation marks to enclose attribute names

Select "Concrete Floor Insulated with Parquet"
Select walls with "grass" surface
Select elements with "yellow" surface

Always specify units

When using numerical values, always include the unit (e.g., mm, m, ft). If you don’t, the system will use its default unit, which could lead to unexpected results - for example, “50” might be interpreted as 50 meters.

Ask for confirmation when unsure

If you are uncertain about a proposed change, ask the AI Assistant to verify the actions it performed.

After updating properties, you can request a quick check (for example, “List all walls where the fire rating was updated”) or ask it to list the affected elements and their key properties.

This kind of confirmation step is helpful when you want extra certainty that MCP applied your changes as intended.

Be explicit about hidden and non-visible elements

When editing elements, MCP filters for elements that are currently visible. However, you can also modify non-visible elements if you explicitly request that non-visible elements be included in your prompt. For example, if you ask for all walls, the AI will select only the visible walls (such as walls on the active story). To include non-visible walls (for example, walls on other stories or hidden in the current view), you need to clearly specify in your request that you want to edit non-visible walls as well.
